Society President Buys Champion Hereford
Irish Hereford Society President Mrs Kathleen Tynan, Breaney Ardagh, Co Longford fought off strong competition to secure Ballyaville Wally Show Champion at the Society's sale at Kilmallock.
Bred by Joe and Ivor Deverell, Geashill, Co, Offaly he is sired by herd sire Gageboro Burly out of a homebred dam Ballyaville Donna by Aughmaree Rookie. A five star bull for suckler beef value, weanling export, beef carcass and calf quality he sold at 3000.

The Deverell's also sold Bally-aville Recess by herd sire Breaney Toby at 2400 to Martin Gorman, Ballyring, Ballyragget, Co, Kilkenny.
Another five star bull in similar traits to the Champion Udel 1 VN Your Honour a Doonbiddie Hustler son from the herd of David and Daithi Carroll sold at 2600 to Thomas Holmes, Corofin, Co, Clare.

Overall a good clearance of bulls though quality was not as good as that at Nenagh a week earlier. This was reflected in the sale average of 1875. Another feature of the sale was the number of bulls absent from those catalogued having been sold prior to the sale such is current demand with good grass growth etc.
