Spring Sales Reports - Kilmallock 28th May 2004

Herefords were once again in strong demand at the Societies final spring sale at Kilmallock. Demand for Hereford Bulls has been such that few strong bulls remain with the vast majority on offer at Kilmallock just yearlings or less.

The days top price €2,250 was secured by Freshfords G & T Brennan for Balleen Nick by stock bull Balleen Potent out of Gageboro Recherche. He sold to Liam Egan, Kilmallock.

The Champion Mrs. K. Tynans Breaney Bart sired by stock bull Breaney Nugget out of a homebred cow by Dunrobin Hallmark sold at €2,000 to Sean Hough, Rathkeale. The Reserve Champion from County Leitrim bred by Mrs. M. Tighe Aughaslane 1 Reggie by Goldenfield 1 SuperStar and out of a homebred dam by Gageboro Suave sold at €1,950 to Noel Maher, Ballineenty, Tipperary .

The overall average at €1,720 was less that at previous sales but was well in line with expectations given the age of the younger bulls on offer.
