Weather and Finance hits demand at Nenagh
Demand and prices were slower than anticipated at Nenagh. The disastrous weather, resulting in the rehousing of cows and cattle, combined with the current economic climate are deemed responsible.
Castledaly Star by Yarram Pompeii V055 out of Castledaly Mary by Cloonbracken Performer from the herd of Michael Farrell, Moate, Co.Westmeath sold for the day's top price of 1900 to John Gleeson of Nenagh.
Prices ranged from 1900 to 1350 with an overall average of 1598. A number of the better bulls, while bid to 2000 and above, were withdrawn without reaching the reserve.
Breeders are confident however that when the weather improves, demand and prices will rebound to those of earlier sales.
