As at Kilkenny earlier in the week Herefords met very good demand at Nenagh on Saturday last.
The recent surge in grass growth together with demand from dairy farmers and beef producers supplying the Hereford Prime Scheme through the local AIBP plant at Nenagh ensured steady demand and an excellent clearance.
The days Champion Glaslough Emperor exhibited by Sam and Nigel Heatrick Glaslough, Monaghan sold at 2,900 to Joe Gleeson, Beechwood, Nenagh. By stock bull Ballyaville Nelson he is out of Farmhill Loretta by Gageboro Suave. This is the third show/sale Champion shown by the Heatricks to date this year.

The days top price however was reached when Hereford breeder Patrick Champion of Graigue, Drom, Templemore paid 3,100 to secure Quinsboro Pompeii. Bred and exhibited by Tom Hayes, Dereen House, Kildimo, Co. Limerick he is out of Quinsboro Rose 2 nd a regular prize winner at many of the shows on the Munster circuit.
Local Breeder Rory Farrell from Toomevara sold his Churchill Storm son Ballinveney Elephant out of a homebred cow by RCE at 2,750 to Declan Fahy, Ballinasloe. Dareens Commissioner bred by John Fitzpatrick, Templemore sold at 2,700 to Seamus Gleeson, Dunkerrin.
Other principal prices include Ivor Deeverell's Bally-aville Rebel at 2,450 to Thomas Gleeson, Brosna, Birr, Edwin Jones' Keenaghpoll 1 Martin at 2,400 to Keith Stanley, Streamstown, Roscrea and Robert Powell's Ballingrawn Stan at 2,400 to Seamus Gleeson, Clonaganna, Dunkerrin.
The Reserve Champion Steil Ebenezer shown by JJ McCormack Tulsk sold at 2,200 to John Toohey, Cloughjordan.
