STRONG DEMAND FOR HEREFORD CONTINUES
Once again Herefords met very good demand at its annual April sale at Central Auctions Nenagh.
The days Champion Ballyaville Vikram sired by Cill Cormaic Generator was bred and exhibited by R & J Deverell, Geashill, Co. Offaly. Out of a home bred cow Pollyanna by Kilnagralta Polo he sold for the days top price of 3,050 to Glen Jacob, Dunsinane, Enniscorthy. Mr. Jacob had himself earlier sold Dunsinane Dave by Church Hill Adrian at 2,850 to Patrick Merrick, Ballinulty. A Yarram Pompeii son Balleen Jack Knife, 2 nd to the champion in his class and bred by G & T Brennan, Freshford sold at 2,850 to Rory O'Dwyer, Curraghbaha.
Other principal prices included Michael Molloys Moyclare David by Churchill Storm at 2,600 to Patrick Murphy, the Reserve Champion Kye Best 2 nd by Trillick Best and Bred by Padraig McGrath out of a home bred cow by Lisnabin Jovial sold at 2,550 to John Ryan. Francis Scott sold his 1 st prize winner Knockfin Wright by Forthregal Wright at 2,550 to Robert Stanley.
The following sold at 2,500 John Hayes Curraghliffe Niall 22 nd by Ballyaville Niall to Thomas Wilson, Wil liam Jones 1 st prize winner Creaghpoll 1 Alan by Beverly Hills 1 Thady to Martin Kelly, Edwin Jones Keenagh Mark by Bawngarriff Pilot to Owen O'Sullivan, John Holloways Gageboro Diamond by Gageboro Burly to Tim Roche, T & A Fitzgeralds Caulry 1 Donatello by Churchill Storm to F & P Farrell and Eamon McKiernans Knockmountagh Carlos by Churchill Storm to F. Ryan. He also sold Knockmountagh Rommel at 2,400 as did Mary Johnson with Farney Benny.
Overall there was an 85% clearance with older bulls of lesser quality in poor demand. Prices ranged from 1,400 to 3,050 with an average of 2,218.
The Society's next sale takes place at Kilmallock on Friday next where 68 Bulls are on offer.
