HEREFORDS SELL TO 3,200 AT NENAGH

While Herefords experienced good demand at Nenagh the 75% clearance reflected the continuing cold weather and lack of growth with many animals remaining indoors due to difficult conditions and poor grass growth.

The day's top price was paid for Kye Storm 2 nd one of the youngest bulls exhibited. Reserve all Ireland bull calf at Trim last Autumn he was exhibited by Padraig McGrath, Elphin is by Churchill Storm and out of Kye Paula 1 st by Yarram Pompeii. He sold to JJ Conway, Ballickmoyler, Co. Carlow at 3,200.

Eamon McKiernan of Monasterboice exhibited a Yarram Pompeii son Knockmountagh Pirate out of Knockmountagh Rose by Smithston Something Special and sold to John Neenan, Broadford, Charleville at 3,000.

The days Champion Grianan Fortune was shown by T & A Fitzgerald of Mount Temple Moate. He was withdrawn unsold failing to reach his reserve. This was somewhat disappointing for the Fitzgerald's though tempered somewhat by the 3,700 received at Tipperary the previous week for Grianan Famous the first son the UK bull Border General exhibited in Ireland .

Other principal prices included Glen Jacobs Churchill Storm son Dunsinane George out of Dunsinane Betty 2 nd by Bishophill General at 2,350 to Michael Murphy, Foilduff, Newport and Joe O'Connor's Boveen Franklin by Kilsunny Abraham out of a Breaney Sam dam at 2,200 to Mervyn Donaldson, Borrisokane. Joe Deverells Ballyaville Abe by Gageboro Burly sold to AM Langely, Brittas Castle, Thurles while Thomas Hayes sold Quinsboro Storm 1 st to R & N Alexander, Shinrone also at 2,000.

Prices ranged from 1,600 to 3,200 with an overall average of 2,012.
