Report from Roscommon 17th May 2005
The Hereford Society was well pleased with its recent sale at Roscommon. There was a full clearance with the exception of the Reserve Champion failing to reach his reserve.
The Champion Clooncullane Star by Dairygold AI bull Meiltron Leisure out of Clooncullane Rose by Dunrobin Hallmark. A bull of exceptional quality with good bone and conformation and dark colour he was exhibited by Mr. Sean Neary of Clooncullane, Strokestown and sold into the pedigree herd of T.J. Dudley, Kilsunny, Dovea at €3,000.
Other principal prices included Mr. Sean McKiernan's Corlismorepoll 1 Man to Mr. Leslie Wakefield, Urrachree, Aughrim, Ballinasloe at €2,200, Mr. J.J. Farrells Trillick Cracker to Mr. David Browne of Manorcunningham, Letterkenny at €2,100 and Mr. Eamon McKiernan's Knockmountagh Leader at €2,000 to Patrick Clarke, Mountbellew. A number of bulls were sold prior to the sale indicating the demand for Herefords at the moment.
Overall average €1,925 with a range of €1,250 to €3,000.
