Spring Sales Reports - Roscommon 22nd May 2004
Demand for Herefords continued apace at Roscommon on Saturday last with a very good clearance. A number of bulls were absent as due to the strong demand they had already been sold.
The days top price of €2,820 was paid for the Reserve Champion. Castledaly Don bred and exhibited by Farrell Bothers, Kilcleagh, Castledaly, Moate. This very well balanced bull sired by Freetown Gorbachev and out of a Visa dam sold to Cavan dairy farmer Marie Caffrey of Ballinagh.
The Champion Knockmountagh Cosmo bred and exhibited by Eamon McKiernan, Monasterboice sired by Balmoral Champion Lisrace Lifeliner sold to JJ Farrell, Trillick-a-Temple, Co. Longford at €2,600
Other principal prices included S & N Heatrick's 1st prize-winner Glaslough Bouncer to John Neenan, Broadford, Charleville at €2,200, WA & IH Jones' Creaghpoll 1 Bertie to Brendan Molloy at €2,000 and J McCormack's Steil Brian at €2,000 to S & N Heatrick, Glaslough, Co. Monaghan.
