World Hereford Council Secretary General Jan Wills visited recently on a whirlwind tour of Ireland which included attending the Beef Demonstration “Producing world class beef in challenging times” in Athy and also the Hereford Prime AGM in Nenagh. She noted that Herefords worldwide were gaining in demand due to the increasing pressures on producers.
"The breed traits are ideal in the midst of the environmental and economic challenges currently facing the beef industry," she said. She continued stating that "the awards achieved by Hereford Prime illustrate the superior quality of the product and show what can be achieved by producers who focus on the consumer as their final customer”.

Hereford Prime New Zealand had recently won the Steak of Origin contest aginst stiff opposition particularly Angus in New Zealand. “The Hereford provides a superior product which the consumer needs to be further informed off so that breeders and producers can reap their just rewards and consumers can enjoy a superior product” she stated.
The Secretary General had arrived from Australia and was travelling on to the UK for the European Confrence from whence she will travel on to Canada to finalise plans for the forthcoming World Hereford Congress to be held in Calgary in July 2012
