Gurteragh & Tullaha Hereford Female Sale

Gurteragh and Tullaha Herefords held a joint female production sale in Kanturk Mart, in the rebel county of Cork, on Saturday 6 th June 2026.

Gurteragh Herefords.

A total of 36 animals were up for sale on the day from the Gurteragh herd, including cows with calves at foot, in-calf heifers, maiden heifers, and weanling heifers. The average price of heifers was €3,190, while the average price for cows was €4,372. There was a strong trade demand on the day, with three heifers making over €4,000, one which sold for €6,800. As for cows, 4 made over €4,500, with 1 selling for €5,350. At the end of the sale, 33 out of 36 animals found new homes with 8 heading across the border to Northern Ireland, giving a 92% clearance on the day for the Gurteragh herd.

Top price of the day went to a February 2024 born in-calf heifer Gurteragh Daffodil PH, scanned in-calf to Barwise 1 Ricochet PP and due 2 nd October 2026. Daffodil has a smashing 5-star replacement (€147), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Along with 5-stars all across the board, Daffodil is sired out of Mullaghdoopoll1 Finnian, and out of a Gurteragh Rambo dam, Gurteragh Angel 948. Daffodils pedigree goes right back to Sherlock Violet, mother of Sherlock Heather. The hammer fell at an impressive €6,800.

The second highest price of the day went to a 2021 born cow, Gurteragh Edel 961, who had an 8-week-old bull calf at foot, Gurteragh Victor 1211 PH, who is sired Mullaghdoopoll1 Finnian. Edel has a 5-star replacement (€125), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Edel is sired by the great Conmelvin Ollie and is out of a Balleen Bonus Dam, Gurteragh Gayle 788. This cow and calf outfit attracted a strong interest from buyers, with the final bid coming in at €5,350.

A March 2024 born in-calf heifer, Gurteragh Maeve 135 PP, made the third highest price in Kanturk. Maeve has a 5-star replacement (€134), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Maeve’s dam is Dominarigle 1 Grace 945, a daughter of Panmure Henry. Maeve has an impressive 5- star sweep across the board for replacement traits, and 3-stars for daughter milk and 4-stars for daughter calving interval. Maeve is scanned in calf to Appel 1 Runo PP, and is due 2nd October 2026. This in-calf heifer made a smashing €4,650.

LOT 8: Gurteragh Maeve 1135 PP €4,650

Another cow, Gurteragh Matilda 997, born January 2022, along with her 3-week-old bull calf at foot made a generous €4,550. Matilda is sired by Gurteragh Oakley 652, and is out of a Gurteragh Justice dam; Gurteragh Willow 722. This cow attracted a strong interest from buyers, thanks to her pedigree, which goes back to Sherlock Heather, and quality of her bull calf.

Selling for €4,500 was a November 2017 cow, Gurteragh Harley 756 ET, along with her 9- week-old bull calf at foot, Gurteragh Setanta 1210 PH. Harley is sired by Gurteragh Oakley 652, and is out of a Glaslough Dandy dam; Gurteragh Fantasy. Harley’s pedigree goes back to Sherlock Heather, and is a full sister to Gurteragh Aristocrat 758 who was male champion at the National Hereford Calf show in 2018. Harley has proved to be a super breeding cow, with her son selling in Kilmallock for €4,700 in 2025.

Gurteragh Nicola 995 also made a nice €4,500, with her 9-week-old bull calf at foot. Nicola is a January 2022 born cow and is sired by Gurteragh Oakley 652, and is out of a F.H Noel ET dam; Gurteragh Pamela 670. Nicola’s bull calf, Brigadier 1209 PH, is sired by Mullaghdoopoll 1 Finnian. Brigadier has an impressive 4-star replacement (€108), terminal, and dairy beef indexes, making him a promising young calf for the future.

Another one to mention is Gurteragh Saorlaith PH. Saorlaith is an in-calf heifer born in March 2024 and is due in September 2026 to Barwise 1 Ricochet PP. Saorlaith has 5-stars across the board for replacement profile traits, and for replacement (€121), terminal and

dairy beef indexes. This smashing heifer is sired by Mullaghdoopoll 1 Finnian, and her dam is out of Gurteragh Jusitce ET. The hammer fell at €4,200 for this impressive in-calf heifer.

Tullaha Herefords.

There were 8 animals up for grabs from the Tullaha herd, in this exclusive female sale in Kanturk Mart, including in-calf heifers and 2025 born heifers. The average price for in-calf heifers was €3,817, while the average price for 2025 born heifers was €2,967. There was a strong trade on the day, with the top price for the Tullaha herd at €4,600 for an in-calf heifer and 4 animals making over the €3,000 mark. At the end of the sale, 6 out of 8 animals were sold, giving a 75% clearance.

Tullaha Johanna 498 HH, an in-calf heifer to Tullaha Issac and due 12 th July 2026, made €4,600. Johanna is sired by Coisceim King, and is out of a Tullaha Johanna dam. This June 2024 born heifer has 3-star replacement (€95), terminal and dairy beef indexes. She has an impressive carcass weight figure of 10.7kg and fertility figures, Johanna has plenty of breeding potential for both within the Hereford breed and across other breeds.

Next was an in-calf heifer, Tullaha Missy 494 HH, who is sired by Laxfield Jefferson S3519. Missy is due to calve on August 30 th 2026 to Kilsunny Vegas. Missy is a 2024 born heifer and has a 4-star replacement (€115), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Missy is out of a Coisceim Missy dam. She offers 4-stars for daughter milk (5.2kg) and has great maternal traits. The hammer fell at €3,800 for this lady.

LOT 24 was a March 2025 born heifer, Tullaha Judy 511 HH, a daughter of Conmelvin Ollie. Judy is out of a Tullaha Judy 384 dam. Judy has a 4-star replacement (€109), terminal and dairy beef indexes. She has an impressive 5-stars for daughter milk (7.8kg), and age at finish (20.65 days). Judy offers plenty of breeding potential for the future. The final bid for this heifer came in at €3,350.

Tullaha Stephanie 493 HH made a nice €3,050. She is a May 2024 born heifer, and is in-calf to Moyclare Winston and due 17 th August 2026. Stephanie is sired by Coisceim King, and is out of a Tullaha Eileen dam. She has a 2-star replacement (€67), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Stephanie has an impressive carcass weight figure of 12.5kg.

Another Johanna, this time LOT 29, Tullaha Johanna 516 HH. This is a 2025 born heifer, sired by Trillick George and out of a Tullaha Johnanna dam. This heifer sold for €3,000 in the ring. She has 4- star replacement (€108), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Johanna is backed by excellent daughter milk and fertility traits, and comes from a very milky dam, which gives her great breeding potential for the future.

Tullaha Clover 523 HH, a June 2025 born heifer, made €2,550 in Kanturk Mart. This heifer is out of a Ardmulchan Clover 619 dam, and is sired by Coisceim King. She has a 3-star replacement (€91), terminal and dairy beef indexes. Clover has an impressive carcass weigth figure of 15.4kg and plenty of breeding potential.
