Irish Hereford Breed Society (IHBS), in partnership with Irish Hereford Prime, has selected 8 young breeders (aged 18–26) to travel to Kansas City in October 2025. All eight members will compete at the Young Breeders Competition at Kansas State University, followed by showmanship at the American Royal in Wichita.

The young Hereford representatives offer a wide range of expertise, including genetics, meat evaluation, animal grooming, showmanship, and educational involvement. They are in a unique position to succeed and raise the profile of Irish Hereford breeding globally.

The team underwent hands-on training via IHBS workshops—covering selection of animals, handling, tying, clipping, brushing, and in‑ring techniques. These events will continue for our younger members throughout the summer. Both teams are currently involved in these events and will be present at the events to guide and demonstrate their expertise on the breed.

The team offers an extensive background in breeding and genetics, based on sustainable methods supported by the Beef Data & Genomics Programme and the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation.Their exposure to national carcass assessment systems and benchmarks informs their instruction in meat quality and grading. 

We’re thrilled to rally behind our two Irish Young Hereford teams heading to the World Hereford Conference in Kansas this October! To help them shine on the global stage—with skills in grooming, genetics, meat evaluation, and showmanship—we’re launching a raffle with fantastic prizes.
