On Saturday, May 17, JJ Farrell and family held the first field evening of 2025! Under a brilliant sunshine, the event showcased a stunning display of Hereford cattle, highlighting their impressive conformation and quality. Adding an interactive dimension to the event, attendees were invited to participate in a stock judging competition. Participants assessed five groups of Hereford cattle, categorizing them in terms of their conformation—a skill set crucial for both breeders and consumers interested in understanding beef quality. This hands-on experience provided valuable insights into the criteria that define top-tier beef production. The competition offered enticing prizes: a €150 meat voucher from Hereford Prime for the senior winner. This event was opened up to our youth club, Next Gen Herefords, where a €100 voucher was up for grabs for the winner, providing an opportunity to enjoy premium beef cuts.
